nature of the intervention

Redesign and extention

In Lyon, France, Villa C underwent a renovation and extension across 250 m². Completed in 2023, this project adapts the studio's architectural language to a different climatic and urban context, while retaining a restrained, timeless approach.

The villa is distinguished by its low-pitched roof, finished in dark tiles, which shelters the entire structure while fitting within regional Lyon building conventions. This roofline extends into a canopy above a covered terrace, carried on a series of white columns that give rhythm to the main facade and create a shaded transition space between interior and garden. The facades, rendered in white and punctuated by dark-framed windows, follow a measured, repetitive logic typical of contemporary European residential housing. The extension is articulated with the existing volume without a strong stylistic break, favoring material and volumetric continuity over contrast. The plot, generously planted and enclosed by a light metal fence, opens onto a rear garden treated as open lawn, giving the villa a landscaped breathing room in keeping with its suburban surroundings.

Villa C reflects the studio's ability to adapt its architectural language to varied international contexts, combining renovation and extension in a restrained, contextual response.
